((Thread continuing from here: celestialalliance.proboards.com/post/9/thread)) "Try not to kill him if he surrenders!" Freya called out to Nikolas, but the man was already gone. She sighed and hoped that the other members would be able to keep him in check. If he found the bandit before any of them... chances were, the bandit wouldn't stand a chance. -- The ruins were a literal maze. But there were occasional signs of human contact... a few footsteps imprinted here and there, leftover unlit torches, and less dust at particular areas. The deeper Sol got, the more dangerous the ruins became. Someone had rigged traps... there were quite a few covered pitfalls, and even a particular stone which triggered a volley of arrows from the wall. But the thief himself was nowhere to be found. There were signs that he had been through recently, but nothing which pointed to his immediate location. But there was one particular room... It was holed off in a corner and easy to miss. The entrance had half collapsed. And yet inside was a trove of treasure. There were cases of jewelry and other baubles. Then there was simple farm supplies and cooking equipment. Apparently the thief had quite the sticky fingers, as anything worth even a small amount had been stolen. There was also food and other provisions. The thief likely used this particular room as his main hideout...

Kale was extremely confused. The diminutive boy with disheveled hair began to stir from his bed. He began to gather his thoughts. To begin with, he distinctly remembered he had to visit the Sol clan in the morning. This wouldn't be such a problem... if the sun wasn't setting at the moment. A sigh escaped his lips as he began to get ready. Might as well take my time. I'm already late enough as is, no reason to rush now. Kale thought to himself.
--
"Well... this is awkward," Kale muttered, to no one in particular. He arrived at the clan headquarters, only to find that the entirety of the Sol clan was nowhere to be seen. Speaking of... the other clan also wasn't here. Dam... how late was he...?
"Should I wait for them to come back..." Kale began to ponder, when he noticed the desk of the clan leader. Maybe he could find some blackmail material on them! With a mischievous grin, and an unconcealed chuckle, he began to shuffle through the papers.
"Bills... bills... bills... dam, what's with all these bills!?" Kale exclaimed, mimicking the motion of a table flip. It's not like he was expecting serious stuff, but maybe some embarrassing poems or diary entries or something...! Grabbing the next piece of paper surprisingly yielded not another bill, but a mission for Sol.
"Getting rid of the bandit problem huh... Well, as long as I don't have to kill him..."
--
'Try not to kill him if he surrenders!' Kale heard someone yell. He arrived at the meeting place, only to find a girl yell at seemingly no one in particular.
"Ummmm... you alright? Is there an airfriend you're talking to or something?" Kale asked the maybe-crazy girl.

"Try not to kill him huh?" Faye sighed as she repeated Freya’s words. It had not been long since Faye entered the maze, she walked at a regular pace but her footsteps made no sound "Don't get overconfident Faye or you will end up activating one of those nasty traps!".
Getting close to a corner Faye suddenly stops. Checking the walls carefully, looking for any possible traps "In this world even bandits deserve mercy..." noticing there were no traps Faye turns at the corner walking down the hall swiftly "What do you say Shaddai? Maybe it's not a bad idea to have Nikolas get there first..."

After triggering a few traps, Nikolas ended up looking at one of the walls.
"I feel like I passed through here already.."
After a few steps, he noticed the arrows on the ground, which comfirmed his doubts. The thief was either not around, or hidden somewhere. His sword still in his hand, Nikolas turned another corner, just to end up in the same corridor he had seen earlier, it was probably the 5th time he walked there, but this time, luckily for him, he had decided to point his sword on the wall while he was walking. At the next corner, the sword went through the wall, which surprised him. While looking carefully, he found out a small entrance, which led to another room he hadn't seen yet. Nikolas entered with his sword first, ready to cut down anyone who would be there, but it there wasn't anyone. Instead, he found a lot of anything else, food, money, useless things, etc.
Nikolas searched the treasure for any hints on where the thief would be, but couldn't find anything. He had to make a choice, either wait there to ambush the thief when he'd be back, or search again the ruins to find if he had another spot. He opted for the former option, he sat down on a stolen chair, facing the hole in a way that you could see him from the outside and waited, his sword ready to cut off free the head of the next person to enter the room.

Freya sighed as she watched Nikolas run ahead of Faye. Hopefully the girl would be able to keep the other man in check. "Ummmm... you alright? Is there an airfriend you're talking to or something?" Someone spoke next to her.
She turned around to find one of her members. "Kale!" She exclaimed. He was certainly late, but late was better than never. "Faye and Nikolas have already gone ahead to search for the bandit. Go and give them support; try not to kill the thief if possible. Mayhaps you can keep Nikolas in line." Suddenly she realized what he had said... "Oi, were you thinking that I was crazy? You were, weren't you?!" She glared at him.
((Was thinking we could have everyone unite? possibly at fred's position? Then I'll keep going))

"Oh, how are you doin leader Freya? Whoever said you were crazy? Sounds like something a crazy person would say, haha," Kale said playfully. Can't tease her too much though, she is the leader/money-payer-person after all. "I assume Nikolas and Faye are the other members, right? C'mon then, you're comin with me right?" Kale asked, while walking into the maze. "I have a pretty bad sense of direction, so any help geographically would be appreciated, haha."
He wondered why he had to keep one of his teammates in check... though he can't be THAT bad. It's not like Sol would let a bloodthirsty serial killer in the clan.

"No, I'm letting you guys handle it on your own. You need the experience and could use the fame - me an' Volund can't hog all the glory. Meet up with the others and do your best!" Freya cheered Kale on as he entered the ruins.
--
Some time passed in the treasure room... the thief was noticeably absent. But then it happened... footsteps, and the jingle of something which sounded like gold coins. Quietly at first, but gradually increasing in volume. Someone was approaching Nikolas's position. The steps had gotten very close, practically at the entrance, before stopping abruptly. ...Perhaps, whoever it was, had noticed something amiss.
"...Hello?" A voice hailed uncertainly. It was difficult to distinguish if the voice was a young male or a woman, but clearly the person did not belong to the Celestial Alliance. Outside of the treasure room, perhaps too hesitant to enter, was a figure encased in leather - too loose fitting to discern any specific details about his frame. His face was covered by a white mask, marked with two red tiger stripes across the eyes; the traditional masks once used by the Gaia clan. Unruly black hair matted the back of his head. According to Freya's physical description, this figure certainly matched their 'thief'... but his demeanor hardly seemed to match that of the violent one she described.

Hearing footsteps on the corridor, Nikolas had a faint smile, his opponent was getting close, he placed back a neutral face and looked at the entrance, the bandit was getting there, no doubt about it.
As the steps were getting really close, they stopped, Nikolas leaned on the side of the chair to enlarge his vision on the sidehe heard the steps, he saw a hooded person. He wasn't moving, with what looked like a coin bag in his hand, and was looking inside. The swordman would've jumped at the ennemy, if it wasn't for the fact that he couldn't read his face, because of that mask; at least, it was perfectly identifying him as the thief the clan was searching for.
"...Hello?"
The bandit was probably wondering what was someone doing in his treasure spot, Nikolas couldn't give him an age, or a sex for what matters, with that voice. Well the person did say hi, so he had at least to answer.
"Yo.. I'm sorry to invade your 'property', but I was asked by the leaders of the Alliance to bring your head back to them, whether it is still attached to your body or not isn't my problem."
As he was talking, Nikolas stood up from the chair he was on and started to walk toward the thief, ready to run and slash his back if he decided to flee.

The thief visibly jumped when Nikolas revealed himself. The thief's entire body was tense, and one hand was up as if to defend himself from an attack. Although the mask hid his face, he was clearly terrified of Nikolas. As Nikolas began to walk closer, the thief began to walk backwards. "What? W-wait a moment... There's no need to be violent about this...!" Abruptly he swung around on his heels, breaking out into a full on run away from Nikolas. Apparently he'd take his chances with his back to the blade.
The masked man was unsurprisingly very nimble, and the terrain was definitely to his advantage. He leapt and climbed over rubble, took sharp turns through the maze-like corridors, and seemed to have the entire area memorized. Fortunately Nikolas had been very close when the thief ran, otherwise he would have likely been impossible to catch.
The thief squeezed through a large hole in a wall. For just a few seconds, he was temporarily out of sight. Inside was perhaps what had once been a courtyard, for the area was fairly open. Sunlight streamed through, tall wild grass claiming the courtyard's center. A few trees dotted the area, including a large oak which stretched above the ruins. At the sides were more rubble, including a caved-in entrance. There didn't seem to be any way out of the courtyard... yet the thief was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he knew of another secret exit... or perhaps he was hiding somewhere... or maybe he had some sort of trap planned, if the other traps in the ruins were an indication of his skill...

Like he had predicted, the thief was scared for his life and ran away in the corridor. Nikolas ran after him, his sword still in his hands, but the guy was fast, the blade wouldn't even reach him if he had tried. They both ran like that during a moment, the weird thing was that they didn't meet any other members of the Sol clan during that time, where were they?
The thief ended up going through some kind of passage in a wall. His sword going in first, Nikolas went in the hole, only to end up in some wide open place, with trees and grass and all. The bandit wasn't there though, so he had to be hidden somewhere, he wasn't fast enough to have ran through the whole courtyard in the short time Nikolas couldn't see him. His objective would be either to run away, using this entrance, another one or by climbing on that big tree, or to do a surprise attack, waiting to be in a blind spot.
Nikolas walked slowly to get to the center of the place, running to the wrong spot would mean to lose his target, whatever his objective was. He looked closely around him, the man could be behind a tree, laying down in the tall grass spots, in some king of cave at his right, too much possibilities for him to cover everything at the same time while making sure he wouldn't escape from another spot.
When he reached the center place, nothing had moved, there wasn't any wind either, it was silent. So Nikolas opted to break it.
"So, I know you're still here.. let's say I'm willing to place my sword back in it's sheath and discuss this without spilling your blood, will you come out? I'm kind of tired of all this running now..."
As to prove his good intentions, Nikolas lowered his blade and placed it so the tip of the sword was almost touching its sheath, which was in his left hand.

From behind the large tree, the thief casually sauntered out of his hiding place. In right hand was a sword of his own... and unlike Nikolas, he intended to clearly keep it unsheathed. "Really now... That seems unfortunate, for I was hoping for a fight." His words held the utmost confidence. Although his mask and clothing remained the same as before, something inside him had seemed to have changed. Even his posture was better, as if he didn't possess a single doubt. "But I'll give YOU a chance... lay down your weapon, and I'll let you keep your life!" Without waiting for an answer, the thief charged at Nikolas. Raising his blade, he aimed at the Sol member - the blow was meant to be a lethal one, lest Nikolas avoided or blocked it. The timid thief had suddenly become the bloodthirsty brigand that Freya described.

Nikolas saw the thief slowly getting out of behind the oak, sword in hand, and seemingly with a will to fight.
"Really now... That seems unfortunate, for I was hoping for a fight."
Nikolas had what people would call a satisfied smile on his face, battles were always his first and favorite choice. He had previously tried to lure him out by saying he'd let him live, but now he didn't have to hold back anymore; the bandit clearly stated he wanted to fight, killing him should be counted as self defense right? Without saying anything, Nikolas let go his sheath and placed his left hand on his blade, which was now pointing up in front of him. After closing his eyes for a second, he made a circular movement with the sword and placed himself in fighting position.
"But I'll give YOU a chance... lay down your weapon, and I'll let you keep your life!"
As he said that, the thief charged, his blade poiting on Nikolas's heart. The thrust was used as a surprise attack, but from the front and on someone who was waiting for a fight, it was a little too slow and weak. Nikolas quickly went to his left, spinning his sword at his opponent's, making it miss it's target.
"Tsk.. Cocky bastard, you're way to weak to even pose a threat to our frail leader."
At the same time, Nikolas slashed diagonnally in direction of the thief, trying to cut him in two from the back to the front. He was using both his hands on the handle of his sword, so that if the opponent tried to block it with his own, he'd probably be disarmed by the heavy strike. Nikolas's intent was now to kill the bandit, letting him live wasn't an option anymore.

(Sorry for not postin. Work and some personal matters got me tied up. But now I should post with more regularity.)
"Glory she says... fame she says..." Kale murmured to himself. There ain't exactly much fame and glory in stopping a lowly bandit, is there? Not like that was the most pressing matter right now. Kale was hopelessly lost. He knew that his sense of direction was bad... so he can't be that surprised from being lose in a fuckin MAZE. Sure there was the occasional trap: arrows, spikes, spears, ya know, the usual, but Kale just easily evaded them. He may not be the strongest, but his quick reactions and speed more than made up for it. --
It took him awhile, but he finally got into what seemed like a clearing. It sure didn't belong in a maze... what with the trees and the people fighting and th- wait. People fighting? Nah, not in this desolate maze. Maybe they were best friends just sparring?
"But I'll give YOU a chance... lay down your weapon, and I'll let you keep your life!"
Well that blows that theory outta the water... So guess that makes him the bandit... right? Well maybe the other guy will drop his sword or someth- nope, he just sidestepped and is now...! Oh shit, he's gonna kill him. Wasting no time, Kale grabbed one of his daggers and dashed forward. He tried tackling the bandit, while deflecting the attack of the other guy with this dagger.
"STOPPPP! Why're you tryin to kill him!?"

((WB Sora )) "Urgh!" The thief growled in exasperation as another joined the fray. Although the thief managed to avoid Nikolas's lethal blow, and managed to sidestep most of the tackle, but now his sword arm was temporarily tied down. He shook his arm furiously, trying to shake the newcomer off, while winding up his other hand for a punch. "T-two of you...?" He swore, managing to shake Kale off, and backing away uncertainly. "Just leave u- me alone, and I'll let you go without getting hurt!" That's what he said... but he was actually backing up towards where they had first entered... Perhaps he was contemplating running again.

"STOPPPP! Why're you tryin to kill him!?"
The sword didn't hit it's target, and has the thief avoided it, someone else jumped in front of him. Nikolas slowed down his strike, the sword ending it's swing on the ground after hitting a dagger. His eyes showed anger, his clanmate was now trying to defend the ennemy.
"Why you ask? He's clearly not going to follow us on his own will, and he attacked me first anyway..."
Nikolas went around Kale to face the bandit again.
"Just leave u- me alone, and I'll let you go without getting hurt!"
The thief wasn't charging like the last time he said that, either it was because they were now two and he wasn't confident he could win (not like he could've earlier either), or it was because he planned something else. Nikolas slowly went forward, with his sword ready to resume their fight. But the distance between them wasn't shortening at all, the oppenent was backing off now, and the oppening of the courtyard was behind him!
"Kyle, run across the place and block that exit! Else we'll have to run after him all around the ruins again.."
